About & Contact
Baan Saphan Boon is a privately run animal sanctuary in Bang Saray (Bang Sare), Chonburi Province, Thailand — home to 1,200 rescued dogs, sustained by one woman's compassion.
Ms. Uraiwan Kaeso — known to everyone as Aunt Khao (พี่ข้าว) — is the founder and sole driving force behind Baan Saphan Boon. She did not set out to run one of Thailand's largest privately operated animal sanctuaries. She simply could not ignore a suffering animal. Then another. Then another.
What began with a handful of rescued dogs has grown into a permanent home for 1,200 animals. Over the years, Aunt Khao has sold personal possessions and devoted her life entirely to their care. She has never sought recognition. She has only ever sought to help those that had no one else.
The name means Bridge of Merit (บ้านสะพานบุญ) — a place where suffering ends and a second chance begins. Located in Bang Saray (Bang Sare), a coastal community in Sattahip District, Chonburi Province, the sanctuary operates every day of the year with no pause.
Every dog here arrived hungry, injured, sick, frightened, or abandoned. Every one of them stayed. The sanctuary relies on donations from local supporters and the international community to cover the daily cost of food, water, and care for 1,200 animals.
